Install Day

Install Day is where approved artwork becomes an on-site fitting pack for the crew. This step covers sizes, panel breaks, vinyl selection, and the exact placement notes needed before graphics leave the workshop.

Site pack before fitment

Install Day covers the practical handover from printed graphics to on-site fitment. Once artwork is approved, the next step is getting vinyl, marks, and placement details ready for the install team.

List the surface first, then note access times and any fitting restrictions at the premises. Durban humidity, Cape Town wind, Highveld dust, and loadshedding can all affect application method, cleaning, and when installers can work. Include whether the job is for a window, fascia, wall panel, counter face, or vehicle bay.

Clear site photos matter most when final placement is being checked. A wide shot, one close-up of the fixing area, and a photo of obstructions such as security bars or light boxes help the install team arrive with the right plan. That record also helps when matching replacement decals or reprinting a damaged panel.

What goes in the install file

The file should identify each graphic by size, material, finish, and position on site. Include cut lines, panel joins, orientation marks, and any notes about overlap, trim allowance, or fitting around existing shopfront hardware. Plain instructions reduce mistakes when the print reaches the installer, buyer, and branch manager.

Before sending through the contact form, check the artwork version, measurements, and the print list against the latest approval. Add one current site photo and state whether the job connects to Graphics, Shopfronts, or Mark notes. If access is limited, include the centre trading hours or landlord fitting rules.

Checks for South African sites

Account for mall access, street-front parking, and freight movement before booking an installation window. Jobs moving through OR Tambo or regional courier routes need labels that match the branch name, quantity, and panel order. Older painted walls, sun-faded fascias, and previously applied vinyl should be noted before print specs are locked.

Material choice changes from coast to inland conditions. Salt air can shorten the life of an unsuitable film, while dusty inland sites often need extra surface prep before application. Power interruptions can also shift print output and fitting times, especially where lighting or equipment access is limited.

Details to send for fitment

Send the branch name, install address, contact person on site, and the preferred fitting date. Add measurements from the actual area, note any failed graphics being replaced, and mention if ladders, lifts, or after-hours access are required.

Keep the install notes with the job card, approved artwork, and print production record. When a buyer asks what was fitted, that file should show the material used, where each piece was placed, and which version went to site.
