Install Day specs
Setup notes and briefing numbers for Install Day.
Measurements to confirm before fitment
Install Day specs lists the measurements, placement notes, and site checks needed before fitment starts. It helps keep the graphics job card aligned with what the installer will find on the shopfront or inside the store.
Record the exact width and drop of each window, fascia, panel, or door before print is booked. Note obstacles such as security gates, alarm beams, uneven plaster, tiled joints, and light fittings that affect placement. For outside work in Gauteng, Durban, or Cape Town, add weather exposure and the best access time for the shopfront.
Site photos must show the full elevation as well as close views of handles, corners, and damaged areas. Include one image with a tape measure in frame where critical sizing could be disputed later. Install Day specs works best when the installer can compare the sheet against the actual opening on arrival.
What the installer checks on site
The sheet should state substrate type, finished size, and final position from fixed reference points such as slab edges, mullions, or ceiling lines. Add whether the job uses application tape, layered vinyl, print and laminate, or direct mount panels. Clear notes reduce re-cuts when branding must line up across windows and internal walls.
Before widening the scope, match Install Day specs to the relevant artwork record and the packing list for that branch. Confirm quantities, print orientation, and any split panels before dispatch leaves the workshop.
- Exact fascia and window measurements
- Photo references for placement points
Site conditions that affect vinyl
Older shopfronts often carry flaking paint, silicone residue, or previous adhesive that must be noted before fitment day. Centre rules can also limit ladder use, parking access, and trading-hour installation inside malls or neighbourhood strips. Specs should mention whether branding is external, behind glass, or mounted in a tenant passage.
At the coast, salt exposure and wind can change the material choice for outdoor graphics and panel fixing. Inland dust means more surface prep before application, especially on roller shutters and sun-baked glazing. Loadshedding can interrupt lighting checks, print output, or tool charging, so the install window needs to reflect that.

Details to include on the job sheet
List the branch name, contact on site, access time, and any branding that is being replaced or removed first. Mention failed decals, cracked panels, or colour mismatches found on the previous visit. Good Install Day specs gives the fitter the order of work, not just the final sizes.
Keep the job card, artwork approval, and print record together so every measurement can be traced back to one source. When the buyer or branch manager asks for fitment notes, the specs sheet should show what was measured, where it sits, and what conditions were recorded on site.
